The Chatfield Surname Project
Description:
The Chatfield Family History Society in the United Kingdom maintains an extensive database consisting primarily of various genealogical documents. Currently their information suggest that Chatfields are historically associated with two sites in England-Sussex and Staffordshire. To date they have not found a conclusive connection between the two groups. To build on the work of our U.K. relatives, we have formed a Chatfield surname group here in the U.S. First we would like to know if you have been able to trace your linage back to England and to either Sussex or Staffordshire sites. Second, we want to utilize DNA information to augment the paper trail. We are curious to learn if the two groups are descended from one common ancestor.
