The Chemerinsky Surname Project
Description:
The Chemerinsky surname seems to have emerged early in the 19th century in Motol (24 Miles, or 39 km, NW of Pinsk). Its bearers probably came from the village of Chemerin (7 Miles, or 11 km, E of Motol). As the 19th century progressed, Chemerinskies were present as far west as Kobrin and Pruzhany and east of Pinsk. There were probably at least two Chemerinsky lineages in Motol, and maybe more in Polesie. At the start of the 20th Century, there were already Chemerinskies in the US but most of them changed their surnames. The Chemerinsky surname project aims to sort out the various Chemerinsky families and to identify their origins from before the surname was adopted.
