The Chew Surname Project
Any male born with the surname Chew (or Chewe) or other possible variations is invited to join. Since the main purpose is to test the DNA of the Y chromosome which is passed from father to son(s), only living males can be part of the Y-DNA project. Female Chews may suggest their spouse, father, brother, or cousin be tested. We will compare test results of the various donors to establish lines of descent. When two or more donor's Y-DNA matches, it is proof they descended from a common ancestor. Which ancestor is not known, but the test can predict how far back they lived. This allows the various Chew branches to compare results and find their common ancestor.
