The Gilardi Surname Project
Many Italians emigrated to America in the late 19th century. Among the family names of these Italian immigrants was the name Gilardi. My particular Gilardi line emigrated from Termini Imerese, Sicily, Italy in the 1880s and 1890s, while other Gilardi lines came from all over Italy. Hopefully, the Gilardi surname project will help to clarify the origin and relationship of the various Gilardi lines who immigrated to America in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Briefly, here are the surname project's main goals:1. To help participants find closely related cousins now living in America and Italy.2. To see if the various Gilardi lines in America have a common Italian origin.3. To identify a haplotype for the Gilardi surname.4. To find out if families with slightly different variations of the surname are related.5. To compare the Y-DNA results of American participants with those of Italian participants.
