The Laird Surname Project

Description:

The first United States census was held in 1790. There were more than twenty families surnamed Laird in the state of Pennsylvania. Many other Laird families are known to have settled in Pennsylvania , then moved to Maryland , Virginia , and the Carolinas prior to 1790.Of these early American Laird families in Pennsylvania nearly half have been documented or proven to be related to a common Ancestor. This Laird immigrant ancestor undoubtedly had brothers , sisters , and cousins , of whom we know nothing. Our branch of the Laird family came to Pennsylvania. in the 1730s. Other branches of the Laird family came about the same time. I am in the process of getting this information together for a web site that will be online soon. If we all work together we can see how the different Laird lines connect. My name is John Martin Laird , this is my direct line which I believe leads back to Larne , Ireland.I hope you decide to join this project.
