The Loom Surname Project

As members of the Loom family we face a unique situation in our genealogical research that is faced by hardly any families in their genealogical research. Our surname, Loom, can be used as noun, verb, adjective and an adverb. We've all encountered this situation when performing internet search. A search will usually send us to Fruit of the Loom, loom weaving, it's looming in the distance and strangely enough to Oompa Loompas. Therefore, our goal is to create a site where a concise collection of our family?s combined histories will help all Looms in their individual genealogical research. My reason for starting this site was my own lack of family information. My mother?s name was Marie Victoria Loom. He father died when she was an infant and my grandmother remarried. We believe they were married in Rock Island, Illinois. His name may have been Henry. I?m sure many Looms have similar unanswered questions. I have found: Loom, West Virginia: Loom Tree Hollow; WV, Loom Street, Wesson, MS; Loom Street, South Carolina; Loom Lane, North Carolina; Loom Street, Kaikoroi, New Zealand and a Loom Close, Belper, England. In my opinion we face an additional problem, the Loom surname is also a root name in other families's names.
