According to the Annals of the Four Masters written in the 1100s we MacTighernans or surname variants are supposed to descend from both the O'Conors of north Co Roscommon who were the high kings of Ireland and The O'Rorkes who were kings of Drumahaire in North Leitrim. The O'Ruairc of Breifne and 94 MacTighernans [McKiernan} from eleven countries and five continents have completed the DNA test. We fall into 18 distinct separate genetic groups all from Cos.
