The Manfreda Surname Project
I created MANFREDA surname project group for all persons related to this italian surname that was traced to its source in Padua a city of northern Italian on the River Bacchiglione, anciently known as Patavium, and then Padova. The names Manfreda, Manfredi, Mafredo, Manfredini ... are all variations on the name Manfreda and all share the same origin, related to Langobards. The Manfreda family originated in Padua. They branched into Bologna, Cremona, Florence, Reggio-Emilia, Sicily, Taranto, Treviso, Venice and Verona where they held lands and estates. From their early beginnings, the family name also acquired other interests as branches of this fine old southern Italian family established themselves throughout Italy. Surname MANFREDA today is the most common in Puglia, Calabria, Basilicata and Lombardia. First to me known Manfreda (Michal) in Slovenia was from Kne?a (Chinesa) from 1579, before that I have no evidence for presence of this surname there. The highest number of MANFREDA is near Tolmin, Idrsko-Kobarid, Idrija pri Ba?i.
Other surnames in Project
