The McCreary Surname Project

Description:

Welcome also McCreery, McCrary, McCravy, McRory. Anyone with a variation of the surname McCreary is welcome to establish a database within the project. I am also very interested in talking to any McCrearys living in Ireland and Scotland who would like to be tested. My direct line is Robert McCreary, Sr. born about 1745 probably Groomsport, Bangor Parish, Down County, Ireland who married Mary Fortune b. 1746. Robert purportedly came to America about 1764, settling in Kershaw District near Camden, SC, then migrating to Barnwell District about 1770, where he died about 1810-15. His parents are believed to be John McCreary, Sr. and Agness Kennedy McCreary also of Bangor Parish; grandparents believed to be Andrew McCreary and Catherine McKinney McCreary. Robert's brothers believed to be John, Jr. and Kennedy McCreary. I have found no evidence either brother emigrated to America with Robert. Thank you, Lynda C. Moseley Project Administrator
