The Quartemont Surname Project
Description:
This is a Genographic Project for Belgium, Walloons (Brabant, Hainaut, Liege, Luxembourg, Namur, and Brussels provinces). Although it centers on the Quartemont surname, it is open to all individuals who believe they have paternal or maternal direct lines coming from or in Belgium. DNA testing, both yDNA for paternal lines and mtDNA for maternal lines can provide a picture of the deep and recent ethnic background of Belgians and their descendants. The projects goal is the help individuals find evidence of common ancestral in Belgium, and to develop data for determining deep and recent ancestral distributions and origins. The success of this project will depend on the number of individuals that are willing to join and furnish useful information. Note, there are also projects of Flanders-Flemish DNA, Belgium Walloon, and Benelux. If you have already tested with FTDNA or by way of the National Geographic's Genographic Project, please join by logging onto your personal page and click on the blue icon labeled Join. This will bring you to a page with the title Group Join. Type Quartemont in the search engine and click to go to a page which will allow you to join the Quartemont Project. All others can join on this page. Please include on your application form the surname of the person tested, and if you known; the geographic origin and year of birth of their most distant ancestor
