Welcome to the Scheurer DNA Project. We are interested in performing, collecting and comparing the Y-Chromosone DNA testing of people with the surname of SCHEURER and variants including SHIRER, SHIRAR, SHEIRER, SHIREY, SHEARER, SCHERRY and SHERRY in order to look for common ancestors and common lineages. As far as we know the family originated around Switzerland. Genealogical research has found the families with this name in Switzerland and in all surrounding countries. It is a popular name in Modern Europe being found mostly in Switzerland and neighboring Alsace, France. Early emigrants to America ended up with similar phonetic spellings but later arrivals kept the original spelling. We would like to use the DNA testing to add to the genealogical data already known and hopefully make it possible to connect some of the families that cannot connect through other methods and to help see if all SCHEURER lines are related or not.
