The Shannon Surname Project
Description:
Within the family name Shannon, there appear to be many separate families. Some come from early Scotch-Irish immigration, some from later Irish immigration, some have taken the name due to effects of the Civil War, others from adoption or respelling of Shanahan, etc. This group aims to be a place where all Shannons are invited and all Shannon researchers. We want to map the relationship (and lack there of)of the approximate 50,000 Shannons in the USA and the large groups to be found in Canada, Ireland and Australia. The only requirement for participation in the project is have the last name Shannon and be able to do ydna testing (have a male Shannon's dna)and to provide lineage back to the earliest Shannon male in your line. We welcome other named individuals who match Shannon's in the group. If you tested with another company, please contact us regarding promotion to join the Shannon family tree DNA group.
