The Siders Surname Project
Description:
Through RootsWeb SIDERS Mailing List and other various resources, researchers have found a George SIDERS who immigrated to Philadelphia in 1752 from Germany. From that family, branches have spread from Pennsylvania to Ohio via Virginia and from there westward to Indiana, Kansas, Illinois as farm land opened. There is a branch of SIDERS' who went to Canada with the Church of the Brethren. Other researchers have found German immigrants with the SIDERS surname in Maine and Texas. There is also a SIDERS group in Hawaii who probably descend from the Maine group, being whalers. The goal is through DNA analysis to provide better definition of the immigrant groups and to possibly untangle the SIDERS family who moved through Virginia to Ohio.
