Our aim is to link families sharing our name and to try and determine whether people sharing any variant of our surname are descended from just one or many families. We think that all the British families with our name originated from a small area of Suffolk. For more detailed information see our website at www.stagles.co.uk or contact me via tom@stagles.co.uk To date, 8 individuals from 5 previously unlinked English and 2 American families have been tested. The results showed 4 of the 5 English families to be related to one another and the 2 American families to be related to each other but not to the English families. The full results can be seen on both www.ysearch.org and www.ybase.org by searching for Steggles. For anyone wishing to join this project, we suggest that you have at least 25 markers tested. Matching results on 12 markers would not be conclusive. Please check our website and contact us for further information.
