Welcome to the TABBOT DNA PROJECT... This project is dedicated to the research and preservation of the genealogies of those individuals with the Tabbot surname and all of it's variant spellings through the use of genetic testing, annalysis, and documentation as well as how these respective modalities correspond and relate to conventional genealogical research. In particular, this project focuses on those individuals who are decendants from the Tabbut(t)/Tibbetts line from Washington County Maine. This would apply to those who are ultimately descended from Joseph Tebbut/Tabbut(t), Sr. or believe they may possibly be so descended. This includes but is not limited to those of this line who migrated to other areas such as the Great Lake States, Pacific Northwest, and Southeastern parts of the United States and various parts of Canada. In addition, this project endeavers to trace the ancestry of the afore mentioned Joseph Tebbut/Tabbut(t); born in Wales sometime around or prior to 1720, who arrived in Falmouth, Maine in 1755 from London, England and later settled in the Pleasant River area of Washington County Maine including South Addison, Moose Neck, Addison, Indian River, Jonesport, Columbia, Columbia Falls, and "Tibbettstown;" beyond the shores of North America back to England and Wales in hopes of extending our family tree as many generations as possible. It is with these goals in mind that we pursue the use of DNA Testing as a valuable resource to assist us in our research towards this end. We welcome and encourage all those with the Tabbot surname or variant spellings listed here to join our project and be tested and share in this very important genealogical research.
