The Tucker Surname Project
Description:
As of 12 November 2014, our Tucker (Also Tooker and perhaps Tocker, Tukker, Tocker, etc.) surname project has 383 members of which 327 are Y-DNA tested. There are 28 distinct Tucker families identified. Seventy five percent (75%) or more of new Y-DNA members find an immediate match. Our FAMILY HISTORY Y-DNA GENEALOGY project began in April of 2004. The co-founders are Lee and Bill Tucker. Bill is a descendant of George Tucker, a Revolutionary War Soldier, born 1745 in Amelia Co., VA. Lee is a descendant of the Benjamin Tucker, Sr, born 1759 in MD. We expected to have matching Y-DNA. However, our test results did not match. Y-DNA testing is a must, when coupled with one?s paper lineage, for confirming that one is or is not a member of a particular family of Tuckers. The two original participants are now proven members of colonial era Tucker families of VA and MD respectively. It is highly probable that this new knowledge will eventually permit us to document proof of our lineage to an original Tucker immigrant and perhaps to the over-the-sea family that he originated from. Other members have been equally successful. We consider our project to be for Tuckers worldwide. We welcome anyone of Tucker blood, or of suspected Tucker blood, to join with us. We welcome members from all ethnic groups. There were only a limited number of American Colony Tucker families during the colonial 1600s and early 1700s. Test results for all Y-DNA members tested are posted. Most members also have their Tucker lineage posted. Please see our DNA Tucker Public Page by clicking on the above Tucker Project Website link.
