Are you a Viking?
A DNA test by iGENEA provides you with evidence of whether you have Viking roots. Based on your specific genetic characteristics, we can identify your origins and state from which line the Viking descent is (paternal, maternal or both lines). In addition, your profile is compared with more than 600,000 people in our database. If we find a genetic match, i.e., people with whom you correspond to a certain degree, then you have the opportunity to contact these people and intensify your family research.
1200-year-old "Viking blood"
By analysing blood from towns in northwest England that have existed for more than 1,200 years, it has been possible to isolate the so-called 'Viking Blood'. The geneticist David Goldstein carried out this analysis, which revealed certain markers in the DNA that are indicative of Viking descent. To confirm the initial results, more than 2,000 saliva samples from Scandinavia were compared with each other. The subjects came from certain towns still regarded as Viking settlements.

Researching Viking origins
Carriers of the same or similar genetic traits are categorized in haplogroups. Membership in specific haplogroups can be indicative of Viking ancestry. Through a DNA test, we can put your genetic profile under the magnifying glass and discover your biological roots.
