The LasswellY-DNA Surname Project

Description:

Lasswell Family Y-DNA Group Project: The Lasswell Family Y-DNA Group Project is open to all who have this surname in their direct line. This project was established to help all Lasswell's, from anywhere they live around the world, to determine if they share a common heritage. The Lasswell family claims it?s majority, thus far, from England, Ireland, and Scotland, though these countries are not where the Lasswell?s claim their earliest origins. The early Lasswell lineage is from the settlement of "La Selle" in the arrondissement of Argentan ~ Messei, France area near Calvados. La Selle in French means "the seat" ~ as in "the seat" of the Lasswell family. The Lasswell family research indicates that misspellings have occurred over time which created several different variations of the surname. The family research dating back to the medieval period also indicates that the Lasswell family, and their spelling variations may originally descend from the family ?Lascelles? in Normandy France; DNA testing will confirm (or deny) if the Lasswell family share a common Norman paternal heritage with the Lascelles family. This project seeks a male with the Lascelles surname to help the group to determine our common ancestry and history. If your surname is Lasswell, Laselle, or especially, Lascelles and you are a male, please consider having your Y-DNA tested. As the Y-chromosome is passed down unchanged from father to son, it is very useful in determining direct relationships to a common ancestor with the same surname (e.g., the following individuals will have exactly the same results with others who share a common ancestor: yourself > father > grandfather > g-grandfather, g-g-grandfather, g-g-g-grandfather, etc.) Unfortunately, women do not have a Y chromosome and therefore cannot trace their heritage over many generations of Lasswell?s unless they have a brother or other male relative with the same surname tested. A Surname Project traces members of a family that share a common surname. Since surnames are passed down from father to son like the Y-chromosome, this test is for males taking a Y-DNA test. Females do not carry their father's Y-DNA and acquire a new surname by way of marriage, so the tested individual must be a male that wants to check his direct paternal line (father's father's father's...) with a Y-DNA12, Y-DNA37, or Y-DNA67 marker test. Females who would like to check their direct paternal line can have a male relative with this surname order a Y-DNA test. Females can also order an mtDNA test for themselves such as the mtDNA or the mtDNAPlus test and participate in an mtDNA project. Lasswell spelling variations include, but are not limited to: LASCELLES, LASELLE, LACELLES, LACELL, LACELLS, LASCELL, LASCELLS, LASCELLE, LASELL, LASSELS, LASSELL, LASSELLS, LASSELLE LASELLE, LASSLEY, LAZZELL, LASSALLE, LACEWELL, LACEWELLS, LASLEY, LASALLE, LAZWELL, LOSWELL, LESSELS, LESSELLS, LASEFIELD, and LACEFIELD, LACEY, LACIE, LACY, LASEY, LASSEY, LESSIE, LASLEY, LESSY,LASSIE,LASWELL.
