The St.George Surname Project
Description:
7 November 2005Dear Researchers,This project seeks to establish DNA markers for St. George/St. Jorre/Laporte/Sergerie family lines worldwide. Please follow the link above to see the project website for updated news and results:http://www.familytreedna.com/public/stgeorgeThe St. George name has its origin in many places: France, Quebec, United Kingdom, Hungary, et al. As well, there are spelling variations, name changes, and French Canadian dit names.I welcome suggestions and criticism from others who may have a special area of St. George expertise. I will need help in identifying major St. George lines that have already been researched through traditional research methods. As DNA comparison reports become available the results will be posted on the project webpage (see above) which will identify all of the St. George family lines, as well as analyze relationships between them. Each participant will receive individual comparison results directly from Family Tree DNA once their test sample has been analyzed.I recommend that participants purchase the 37 marker test. It is available to group participants at a reduced rate ($219.00). I?m especially recommending this for those who want to help establish the markers for a major St. George family line to which they belong. But the 37 marker test is not mandatory. The 12 and 25 marker tests are more economical ($99.00 and $169.00 respectively), and will still establish a relationship to a St. George family. You can always upgrade later. Please read all the basic information provided by Family Tree DNA regarding privacy and procedures, and contact the project adminstrator with any questions.Sincerely,Michael StGeorgeSt. George DNA Project Administratorgenealogy.stg@gmail.com
